Classroom ExpectationsWe have homework almost every night in math, to assist us in firming up the concept introduced in class. Your student is expected to complete classroom assignments nightly as the math concepts build on themselves daily. We expect the students to remain focused and involved in all classroom lessons.
I try to be available for any student requiring a bit more help on one particular subject, or an overall understanding, and can generally meet with students early in the morning or right after school (with appointment). I am happy to try to meet any last minute issues, but can often have obligations with school meetings in the mornings. Sixth Grade AbsenteeismIf your son/daughter is absent from class, especially for greater than one day, I suggest you to encourage them, as soon as possible, to schedule extra time to meet with me individually so that I can go over the concept they missed. Since all of the concepts build upon themselves in math it would be important to solidify the one (or more) that they were absent for. A missed concept may be a significant building block for their future in other math sessions, such as algebra or geometry.
